If ever there was an underrated location in Kingston, National Heroes Park is it, but what a great place to visit!
On our guided walk, the monuments and graves become tools to tell the story of the history of Jamaica. Marcus Garvey is buried here. Toots Hibbert is buried here. Miss Lou, Dennis Brown, Alexander Bustamante, Norman Manley, and the list goes on. Here is where we had the Smile Jamaica Bob Marley concert, read the proclamation of Emancipation, had the Great Exhibition. Come see the birds, the friendly stray dogs (feel free to bring them food), the varieties of flowers and trees. Walk through listening to our animated, knowledgeable guide and our specially curated playlist. If you're interested in understanding Jamaican culture, music, political history, National Heroes Park is a must visit. Not sure how to get there, we can arrange to get you there and back on our Kingston Shuttle.
National Heroes Park has a history that dates back to the 1800s. On our guided walking tour through this beautiful park, we will share with you the history of the park, information on the trees, flowers, and birds, and the detailed life of the various heroes and notables being honoured. Our informative and entertaining guide will weave together the story of Jamaica, through sharing the info on the various symbols and people in the park. Why are there so many people who are related in the park? What events led to the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in 1976, two days before the concert that he performed in the park? Why is there a World War I monument? These are but some of the many questions we answer on the tour.
